Frequently Asked Questions
- Is it legal to record calls?
-
The laws vary depending on your location. It is up to the users
of our service to inform the other party if they are required to
do so by law. Our service makes no attempt to inform the other
party that they are being recorded. While we offer no guarantee
on the correctness of other sites we have found the following sites
to be useful:
-
Wikipedia -
General information on telephone recording laws
- Can We Tape -
Information aimed primarily at reporters.
- Do I need any special equipment to record phone conversations?
-
No, you can use any touch-tone phone to record calls with our
service. Simply call Toll Free 1 (877) 239-4713 and use the service
much like a calling card. You can even record cell phone calls.
- If I get transferred will the phone recording continue?
-
Yes. SaveYourCall.com will remain between you and the other
party allowing your phone recording to continue.
- What methods of payment do you offer?
-
All payments are processed through Paypal so we accept any form
of payment that Paypal accepts. This includes Credit Card, e-Checks
and Paypal money. You DO NOT have to have a Paypal
account to purchase minutes from us.
- How are minutes charged?
-
All minutes are rounded up to the next minute. So if you make
a 7 minutes and 53 seconds recording, 8 minutes will be deducted
from your account.
- When are the recordings available?
-
The recordings are available via a secure area of our website
as soon as the conversation is completed.
- What can I do with the recordings?
-
The recording can be downloaded in MP3 format to allow you to do
whatever you want with the recording. You can save it to your
computer, burn it to a CD, e-mail it to a friend, etc.
- How long will my conversations be stored on SaveYourCall.com?
-
All recorded calls are saved to our secure servers for 6 months
at no cost to you. At any point you can download them for more
permanent storage.
- If I call long distance will I incur extra charges?
-
You are allowed to call almost anywhere in the continental
United States at no extra charge. There are a few numbers that our
carrier rejects due to the high termination fees charged. These
numbers are most often used on some "free" conference calling
services. It is not uncommon for carriers to reject these numbers as
many carriers consider their business model somewhat illegitimate.
You can find our more about this on
Wikipedia.
- What is shown in the caller id of the other party?
-
Your number will be displayed in the caller id of the other party.
Please note that using *67 (caller id blocking) before calling
SaveYourCall.com will not prevent this, so you will need to decide
whether to make the other party aware that the call is being
recorded. If you want to block your caller id info and still record
a call, you must connect to the other party yourself and conference
in SaveYourCall.com with 3-way calling (i.e. option "2").
- Are there any monthly fees?
-
SaveYourCall.com never charges a monthly fee. You simply pay for
minutes of record time you would like to use.
- Do the minutes expire?
-
We want you to be able to take advantage of bulk pricing even if
you are an occasional user. That is why we do not put an expiration
date on your minutes. As long as we are here serving you, the
minutes you paid for will be available for use.
- Do you offer any discounts for non-profits, schools, etc?
-
Our policy is to offer the lowest pricing to everybody regardless
of purpose. This means that our prices are already as low as we are
willing to offer them. We do on occasion offer a coupon code as a
promotion for a first purchase so look around the web to see if
one is currently available that you might be able to use when
getting started with us.
